Entropic Uncertainty and Information of a Pulsed-Driven Qubit

Aya Mostafa El-Sayed Khallaf;

Abstract

The study in this thesis is concerned with the interaction of 2-level atom (qubit) with a resonant pulsed laser of arbitrary shape (rectangular, triangular, sin2- and train of Gaussian pulses). The exact operator solutions of the model Heisenberg equations of motion for the atomic operator are utilised to examine the system dy- namics through the instantaneous average of atomic population and polarization and effects of the pulse shape. Further, two additional quantities are of interest within the context of quantum information, namely, Boltzmann’s atomic entropy and its squeezing, and the atomic fidelity and its average are examined in details for different initial atomic preparation and various pulse shape envelopes.
