CARDIAC INVOLVEMENT IN RHE UM A TOJO PATIENTS

Abstract


This study had been performed on 30 rheumatoid arthritis patients (26 females and 4 males) who did not suffer from any systemic disease other than rheumatoid (e.g. Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, ... etc).

The thesis proved that cardiac involvement (by echocardiography) is present in 19 out of 30 patient (63.7%), the variable patterns of cardiac involvement in the affected patients were present in the fonn of :

Diastolic dysfunction in 8 cases. Mitral regurge in 8 cases.
Aortic regurge in 2 cases .


Pulmonary hypertension with dilatation of main pulmonary artery in 3 cases.

Mitra! valve prolapse in 1 cases.


Left ventricular hypertrophy in 2 cases. Pericardia! effusion in 2 cases.
Half of patients with diastolic dysfunction were proved to be ischemic by thallium scintigraphy.
