Effect of intravenous nitroglycerin in patients with acute myocardial infarction

Abstract

The present work comprised the study of 30 patients admitted to the intensive care unit of the Alexandria university main hospital with clinical , laboratory, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic evidences of recent myocardial infarction aiming to evaluate the effects of intravenous nitroglycerin as regards clinical, electrocardiographic, laboratory and echocardiographc changes .

Every patient was subjected to thorough history taking , full clinical examination, serial electrocardiograhic tracings , laboratory investigations of cardic enzymes [ CK-LDH-AST] on admission,on the second day and before discharge and echocardiographic examination on admission and before discharge

Patients included in this study were divided into two groups, each 15 patients . group I included patients who received the routine conventional treatment group II included patients who received intravenous nitroglycerin infusion together with the routine conventional treatment
