Role of Doppler Study of heptic hemodynamics in assessment of patients with chronic hepatitis creceiing interferon therabyu

Abstract

Hepatitis C is one of the most important clinical problems in Egypt. because of the highest percentage of infection. Many trials with drugs were done to overcome this problem and IN! considered as one of the mostly used anti-viral agents.

There are many types of INF used as anti-viral agents such as INF alfa,

[NF beta and INF gamma. And also combination may be used.

In the meantime, there are some methods for assessment of effectiveness of the treatment by INF. Ultrasonography is considered as one of these methods. It has been recognized as a non-invasive, portable, safe and easy-to-perform diagnostic imaging modality. It is also
important to determine the liver condition in chronic hepatitis C patients.

f
In addition, pulsed wave duplex Doppler ultrasonography has been

widely employed in clinical practice. As for its use in chronic hepatitis C. many studies were done concerning the role of the duplex Doppler in evaluating hepatitis patient from the aspect of progression of hepatitis_, assessment of its grade and severity and assessment of developed cirrhosis and other hepatitis C related liver diseases.

By using wave duplex Doppler ultrasonography, we can detected.many measurement concerning blood flow and blood low indices of the liver.

Liver has double blood supply arterial and portal, the portal blood supply represent the major blood supply. So any study on the blood flow indices of the liver must include both arterial and portal supply.
