SOFT TISSUE RELEASE WITH OR WITHOUT RELEASE OF THE TALO-CALCANEAL INTEOSSEOUS LIGAMENT IN THE TREATMENT OF CONGENITAL TALIPES EQUINOVARUS
Ali Ahmed Mohamed Khalil;
Abstract
Forty five patients with sixty six clubfeet were the subject of this study. All clubfeet were classified randomly into two equal groups in the
pre-operative period, each group thirty three clubfeet
In group (A), the feet were treated surgically comprised by complete postero-medial soft tissue release with release of the talo-calcaneal interosscous ligament. In group (B) the feet were surgically treated by complete postero-medial soft tissue release without release of the talo• calcaneal interosseous ligament.
All the patients were treated at El-Hadara University Hospital. Alexandria, Egypt. And followed-up for a period ranged from 24 36 months with a mean 25.6 months.
The age at the time of surgery ranged between 3 24 months with a mean 8 months in both groups. There were six clubfeet in female patients and sixty feet in males. The right side was affected in I5 feet, the left in IH
