A Robust Video-based 3D Head Tracking

Abstract

The first chapter is where we start the introduction to this research thesis and it’s topics. It structure out the chapters accordingly and describe the key takeaways in each of them. Chapter two starts to discuss the previous work done and literature review as well as the theories behind this research topics including the mandatory knowledge and background that is necessary to progress on the research, we describe the historical background, the mathematical approaches that constitutes the building blocks of each part in the proposed system, we also describe the different libraries to support the topics and are commonly used and also explore different implementations on various targets. Lastly, the implementation and system setup defining the used libraries and targets for this research. Chapter three is where the whole system approach is illustrated on a step by step basis with the connections, inputs and outputs of each major step of the proposed system. It contains the software methodologies and algorithms along with the alternative theories. It also discusses the initialization steps needed to prepare this system and collect all the needed information about the hardware as well as the system setup from the part of camera calibration and distortion matrix as well as focal length and center point of the utilized camera that constitutes it’s camera
