Studies on Monogenetic trematodes in freshwater fish with special reference to their control
Mohammed Said Ahmed El-Gohary;
Abstract
Parasitic infestations considered a major problem among freshwater fish which investigated in the preset study since they induced clinical signs or served as secondary invader or predisposing factor for bacterial or fungal infections. Therefore the present study was planned to study:
The prevalence and prevalence allover the year of monogenean parasites among Oreochromis niloticus, Cyprinus carpio, Clarias lazera. The ultrastructure changes of the gills induced due to infestation with monogenetic parasites to gill lamellae. Finally, the role of application of different anti-parasitic commercial drugs used in fish farming on the treatment of. monogenetic trematodes.
The results revealed that all examined cultured fish were infested with monogenea all over the year but with
• different prevalence.
• Summer and spring seasons have the highest prevalence of monogenetic trematodes while winter and autumn seasons have the lowest one.
