SYNTHESIS OF SOME NOVEL PURINES AND THEIR BIOISOSTERIC DERIVATIVES AS POTENTIAL BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE AGENTS

MONA HANY MAHMOUD MOHAMED MAHMOUD BADR;

Abstract

It has been well documented that purines, fused purines as well as
purines linked to other heterocyclic rings possess a broad specturm of
biological activities, especially anticancer, antiviral, antibacterial and
antifungal activities.
These facts initiated the design of novel purine derivatives as potential chemotherapeutic a~ents. Also, in an effort to widen the scope
of the present investigation, certain benzoxazole derivatives were
synthesized as bioisosteric relatives to purine in a trial to evaluate their
anticancer, anti-Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), antibacterial and antifungal activities.
The thesis is divided into the following chapters:
Chapter I Introduction:
This chapter is subdivided into two parts:
Part I: includes a brif survey on some pharmacological aspects of purine derivatives such 'as antineoplastic, antiviral, antimicrobial,
bronchodilator and antihistaminic, antiinflammatory, CNS and adenosine
receptors antagoni; st actr~v,tes, lconcenrati.ng on theie recent researchches.
Part II: deals with a survey of biologically active benzoxazoles in the field of antineoplastic, antiviral, antimicrobial, anthelmintic,
analgesic and antiinflammatoJ agents focusing on the recent researches .
