Determine the Prevalence of Suicidal Behaviors , Some Risk Factors and Warning I Signs Among Secondary School Students in lsmailia City

Abstract


This cross sectional study aims to assess the prevalence of suicide behaviors some risk factors and warning signs among 264 secondary school students in Ismailia
City 132 male, 132 female.



. All students with or without history of suicide behaviors were attending the study including both males and females and aged from 15 to 19 years exclusion criteria
• included refusal to join the study and students older than 19 years old or younger than 15 years old.


; The study results showed that ( I 0.2%) of students had suicidal attempts ( 2.27% )

. male, ( 7.95%) female, this means that females suicide more than males ( 3.5 : 1 ) .

! The study results showed that ( 7.5%) had no risk factors, ( 37.9%) had mild risk

i factors, ( 39.4% ) had moderate risk factors, ( 15.2% ) had sever risk factors all
: student who had suicide attempts had risk factors .

The results also showed that ( 9.8% ) had no warning signs, ( 42.8%) had mild

warning signs, ( 34.1 % ) had moderate warning signs, ( 13.26% ) had sever

warning signs, ( 92.6 % ) of suicide attempts had warning signs .


The results also slµJ�d that suicide by drug ( 48.1 % ), poison ( 3 7% ), cutting wrist ( 11.2% ), falling from height ( 3.7% ). This means that drug is the most common method of suicide.
