STUDIES ON BLOOD PARASITES OF CATTLE IN SUEZ CANAL AREA

Abstract
study was conducted in Suez Canal area aiming to provide a correct data about the incidence and distribution of blood parasites in relation to the age and seasons of the year in both cattle and buffaloes. Detection of clinical syndromes and the effect of the infection on the haematological parameters and the theraputic effect of some drugs were also considered. Obtaining of parasitic antigen from splenectornized animal to be used in . serological tests was. also aimed.The study was conducted in Suez Canal

One thousand animals ( cattle and buffaloes) of different ages, sex and breeds which were distributed in three three provinces 400 from . Suez, 300 from Ismailia and 300 from Port-Said.
All animals were clinically examined. Blood and serum samples were taken for blood smears examination and for some hematological estimation as well as serological examination of serum using Immuno Fluorescent Antibody Technique (IFA)• and Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) applications.
The epidemiological investigation revealed that :-
The incidence of B. bigemina and B. bovis among cattle was 15% and 4.2% respectively and was 6% and 2.33% respectively among buffaloes using blood smears while the serological examination using Immuno Fluorescent Antibody Technique (IFA) revealed 68.75% ,
58.75% ,and 73.75% were recorded to be seropositive to Bibigemina in Suez, Ismailia and• Port-Said • respectiveiy. Concerning buffaloes the examination revealed 35% ,20% and 55% infection rate for Suez, Ismailia
