A CEPHALOMETRIC STUDY OF CENTRIC RELATION AND MAXIMUM INTERCUSPATION IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF MALOCCLUSION
Hanady Mohamed Samih Quneiby;
Abstract
One would prefer to diagnose any problem before treatment commences and avoid masking a more severe malocclusion later on. Since cephalometries played an important role in the diagnostic procedure, useful prediction may be made from cephalometric radiographs concerning the amount of mandibular deflection from centric relation to maximum intercuspation of teeth. The aim of the present study was to detect and measure the differences which might exist between centric relation and maximum intercuspation in normal occlusion as well as different types of malocclusion
The sample used in this study consisted of 40 subjects, 24 females and .16 males, selected and grouped into four equal divisions:
Group 1: Class II Div. I Angle Classification, Group 2: Class II Div. 2 Angle Classification, Group 3: Class III Angle Classification,
Group 4: Subjects with acceptable normal facial profile and occlusion.
or each individual enrolled in this study, two standardized lateral cephalometric radiographs were taken with the teeth in maximum intercuspation
