Fahmi Mahmoud Salem Basha;

Abstract

Snoring and obstructive sleep apnea are common and related conditions. Recently they have attracted much attention. Not only because of their major social problem as a source of irritation to the others, but due to other serious medical consequences include cardiac arrhythmias, systemic and pulmonary hypertension, myocardial infarction, and an increase in the risk of motor vehicle accidents.

This current study included twenty patients in different age group with signs and symptoms of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. The objectives were to evaluate them through the polysomnographic sleep studies to identify the snoring and grades of obstructive sleep apnea, also to compare the results (preoperative and postoperative) between two types of surgery (UPPP and PMPE) as procedures of treatment of snoring and OSA.
