Abstract


THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PRESENT WORK WERE TO STUDY THE PLOWING :
1- Effect of three different tillage systems on soil physical properties and yield

components of sunflower in clay soil.

2- Effect of ploughing forward speed and ploughing depth on the following :

(Effective field capacity, Field efficiency, Rate of soil disturbed volume, net drawabr pull, tractive efficiency, draft per unit of soil area, fuel requirements, energy requirements, ploughing quality).
3- The suitable ploughing system which reduces the cost of energy.
The experiments were classified to laboratory and field experiments. All experiments were conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Kafr El-Sheikh, Tanta University during 1992 and 1993 growing seasons. All ploughs types operated at three different values of forward speed, and two different ploughing depths, (0-10) and (0-20) cm the following tillage systems which were used in the present are study :
* moldboard ploughing Chisel ploughing one pass
* Rotary ploughing
