Abstract
This thesis comprises three chapters. The first one deals with a general review on the coordination properties of hydrazones, isonicotinoyl hydrazone of acetoacetanilide,2,2'(4,4'-biphenyldihydrazono)bis(l,2,3-triketones),p-hydroxyb- enzaldehyde salicylic hydrazone 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde 2'-pyridylhydrazone, aroyl hydrazones.
In chapter II, the methods of preparing 2-pyridylaldimino-N-anilinoacetyl- hydrazone, 2-fiirfiirylaldimino -N-anilinoacetylhydrazone, metal chelates, and the experimental techniques used are described.
The third chapter of the thesis is devoted to study the reactions of N- anilinoacetylhydrazone with 2-pyridine aldehyde and with 2-furfural. The liga¬tion prooperties of 2-pyridylaldimino -N-anilinoacetylhydrazone and 2-furfuryla- Idimino-N-anilinoacetylhydrazone toward transition and non-transition metals are also discussed. This chapter comprises eight parts.
The first part deals with preparation and properties of 2-pyridylaldimino- N-anilinoacetylhydrazone, HLp, *HNMR, LR and spectral data imply that eminec-yclization seems to be the dominated form, while the formation of open chain can not be excluded in solution.
The second part deals with nichel(II), copper(II), cobalt(II), manganese(II), zinc(H), and iron(III) complexes of o-pyridylaldimino-N-anilinoacetylhydrazone, Mn(II), Fe(HI), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) chelates. The analytical data reveal the following types of chelates:
a- M(HLp)X2. nH20; Ni(HLp)(OAc)2. 3H20, Cu(HLp)(OAc)2. 2H20.
b- M(HLp)2X2.nH20; Zn(HLp)2(0Ac)2.3H20, Mn(HLp)2(OAc)2, and Co(HLp)2 Cl2 2H20.
