Effect of Atherosclerotic risk factors and its modification on endothelial function in patients with coronary artery disease- A study using Brachial artery Duplex scanning.

Abstract

Duplex scanning of the brachial artery provides a non invasive mean for detection of endothelial function. This Auction can be tested by reactive hyperaemia (induced by 5 minutes inflation of cuff to 300 mmhg over the foreaim followed by sudden deflation) comparison between flow mediated dilatation (tested by reactive hyperaemia) which is endotheliurn dependant and Nitrate mediated dilatation (produced by 5 uig ISDN sublingual administration for 5 minirtes) which is endothelial independent, provides an idea about the endothelial function in patients with and without atherosclerotic risk factors.
