Abstract

The present thesis showed and interested in the importance of smoke management in overall and confirmed the smoke management design ideals for the protection of vehicular road tunnels.
The mostly dead factor is smoke in the vehicular road tunnels fire subsequently smoke blowouts in heading correspond with save passenger’s life. It decreases visibility and causing death by lack of oxygen
The investigation of the present work is the result of the smoke by using solid curtain with transvers ventilation system on smoke blowout within the vehicular road.
Nine cases are presented in this thesis for road tunnel type C during 600s when reaching to steady state condition. The road tunnel is horizontal. It is 600m long, rectangular cross-section area 10m width and 5m height.By using Heptane which equivalent in HRR to automotive HRR. Vehicles with 4MW, which equal to burn passenger car, 30MW which equal to burn bus or truck and 100 MW which equal to burn tanker and fixed fire position at 300m from road tunnel entrance. Nine cases are discussed; Cases 1, 2 and 3 with 4 MW,cases 4, 5 and 6 with 30MW andcases 7,8 and 9 with 100 MW and compare between with and without using the solid curtain with transvers ventilation system with increase the number of exhaust fans.
It’s concluded that solid curtain blockades the smoke with transverse ventilation system gives higher performance than without solid curtain at 4, 30 and 100 MW and has a best result on the proficiency of smoke removal and sustainable factors are enhanced at the average human height.
