Application of Care Bundle Approach for Preventing Device Associated Infections: A Training Program for Pediatric and Neonatal Nurses

Amal Mohamed Ibrahim;

Abstract

evice-associated healthcare-acquired infections (DA-HAIs) are considered one of the principal threats to pediatric patient safety in the intensive care settings and are among the main causes of pediatric patient morbidity and mortality, particularly in developing countries (Al-Abdely et al., 2017).
Devices as using ventilator, central line, and urinary catheter are morbid and expensive HAIs, particularly for pediatric and neonatal patients in the (ICU) who often receive these devices as part of routine care to closely monitor and deliver therapies (Meddings et al., 2020).
Patients in the PICU and NICU are particularly susceptible to HAIs as the VAP, CABSI, and CAUTI due to the use of invasive devices and procedures among this critically ill pediatric patient. So it is very important to apply small sets of bundle to prevent this infection (Ayar et al., 2019).
Aim of the study:
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of application of care bundle approach training program on pediatric and neonatal nurses for preventing device associated infection through:
