AHMED MOKHTAR TAWFICK;

Abstract

The current study was designed to compare the efficacy of pulsed magnetic field with exercise training in management of osteoporosis in elderly.
Thirty osteoporotic elderly female patients participated in this study. They were selected from out patient clinic of the faculty ofphysical therapy, Cairo University, their age ranged from 60 to 70 years old.
All the patients underwent the same evaluation procedures before the treatment ( pre study) and after three months treatment ( post study). Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) was used to measure bone mineral density of the patients at neck of femur and at lumbar spine (L - L,). The evaluation was done at radiodiagnosis department ofKasr EL-Ainy hospital.
AII patients received oral calcium supplementation (1000 mg/day). The treatment procedures were applied at the out clinic in the faculty of Physical Therapy for duration of three months.
The selected patients were divided randomly into equal groups, Group
A (Magnetic Group ) and Group B ( Exercise Group ).
