Growth Assessment Following Exposure To Electromagnetic Waves

Mona Hassan Mohamed Ali;

Abstract

Growth is a continuous dynamic process occurring from conception to maturity.
Anthropometry is the measurement of variations of the physical dimensions and the gross composition of the human body. It is widely accepted that for practical purposes anthropometry is the most useful tool for assessing the health status for children.
Many factors that affect the rate of development are known. Some are hereditary in origin and act by hastening or retarding physiological maturation from an early age while environmental factors such as dietary restriction, season of the year, exposure to hazardous physical & chemical stresses simply affect the rate of development.

Electrification is one of the basic clements in our life. The generation of electricity, movement of electric charges and an electric current create an electric field and a magnetic field which affect people and children living near power generators and the high voltage electrical power lines.

Previous studies clarified that electro-magnetic waves could affect growth processes as they affect hormones and enzymes involved in cell growth processes. Also exposure to electro-magnetic waves lead to increased rates of miscarriage and congenital malformation in families residing near high voltage electrical power lines
