Abstract


Two field experiments were carried out through the two successive seasons
1996 and 1997 on "Zaghloul" date palms, I0 years old in a private date palm Orchard in Korn Ombo destrict, Aswan Governorate. The considered palms were nearly equal in size and vigour and subjected to the usual cultural practices. The_First experiments :•
The main objective of this field experiment is to find out an additional


information of the response of "Zaghloul" date palms grown under Aswan climatic conditions to certain treatments of number of leaves per bunch (Leaf/ bunch ratio ).
Nine palms were selected for this investigation and divided at randome into 3 equal groups of three palms each. The late and small bunches as well as the excess old leaves were removed on the individual date palm of each group after fruit setting obtain the following treatments :
I- Check or control ( without pruning ) the number of leaves per bunch during the first season was and during the second season was 4.3: 1
2- 6:1ratio pruning ( six leaves per bunch )
3- 8.1ratio pruning ( eight leaves per bunch ).
