Sameh Raafat Ibraheem;

Abstract

Twenty-one benign breast tumors were examined (47.6% fibroadenoma, 14.3% abscess, 9.5% simple cyst & galactocele and 4.8% adenoma, papilloma, fibrocystic disease and ductectasia).
Another 21 malignant breast tumors were examined (76.2% NOS infiltrating ductal, 9.5% infiltrating lobular & medullary, and4.8% mucoid carcinomas).
There was significant statistical difference between benign and malignant groups regarding age distribution with increased probability of malignancy towards increase of age.
B-mode real-time ultrasonography examination was carried-out
and revealed:
I) There was no significant statistical difference between benign and
malignant cases regarding site distribution of breast tumors. The major
proportion ofbreast tumors (benign and malignant) were located at the
.upper halves of both breasts especially the upper outer quadrants.
2) There was no significant statistical difference between benign and
malignant groups regarding distribution of maximum tumor dimension. The greatest proportion oftumor's maximum dimensions were sized from 1-3cm.
