Abstract


Pressure ulcers has a major impact on the patient as causing pain, discomfort and reducing the quality of life as well as, impose unnecessary psychological and physical strain on nursing staff. Therefore every effort should be directed toward their prevention. The clinical practice guidelines on the prevention and management of pressure ulcers will have a significant impact on the nurse's education and the recognition of the role of education, to ensure successful implementation of the guidelines.

I. Develop and implement a teaching program for nurses about the preventive aspects of care for pressure sores.
2. Evaluate the effectiveness of the program on


a. Nurses knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP)

The study was carried out in orthopaedic, medical department and intensive care unit of Shebin El-Kome Teaching and University Hospital in Menoufiya Gavernorate. The data collection phase was conducted over six months between March through August, 1999.
