Abstract
Chitosan is an ecofriendly biomaterial, biodegradable, non-toxic, and biocompatible. These properties support chitosan as potential for different applications such as biomedical, biotechnology, packaging, pharmaceutical industry, antimicrobial activity against a wide range of bacterial strains and treatment of wastewater contaminated with dyes.
This thesis focused on improving chitosan physicochemical properties through chemical modification with different crosslinkers and sulfonamides under various reaction conditions, then evaluation of the new modified chitosan hydrogels for various applications.
