Abstract

Urinary Obstruction is a major clinical problem responsible for thousands of hospital admission and surgical problem each year because it predisposes to urinary infection, renal damage and renal failure.
Our study included 130 patients with upper unnary tract
obstruction either unilateral or bilateral . Most ofthem were males in the 4" decade of life presented mainly with renal pain , renal colic, renal swelling , chronic dysuria , haematuria, uraemic manifestation with oliguria or anuria or asymptomatic .
The aim of our study is to evaluate the role of colored duplex Doppler in cases with upper urinary tract obstruction. This aim is done with comparison with other standard methods of evaluation of hydronephrosis to find its position in between them in the proper diagnosis , follow up and prediction of recoverability of the renal function.
The patients were subjected to full history taking , clinical
examination and laboratory investigations such as urine analysis and culture , blood urea , serum creatinine , liver function tests , blood picture and blood sugar . All the patients with hydronephrosis primarily diagnosed by US, then the imaging techniques that help in diagnosis are :
1- Plain X-ray of the urinary tract (P.U.T) for all patients to detect
radio opaque stones .
