Abstract

This study was done to compare the effects of sevolurane
versus halothane on the level of intercellular adhesion molecule
-1 (CAM-1)' of 'patients previously exposed to halothane
anesthesia within the previous year.
This study included 40 patients , their ages ranged from 18
-- 52 years undergoing different types of surgery either
ophthalmic, EN.T , plastic neurosurgical or extraperitoneal abdominal operations.
Patients were divided according to the type of inhalation
anesthetic used into 2 equal groups :
Group(I): 20 patients received sevoflurane and have previously • been exposed to general anesthesia with halothane within the previous year.
Group (II): 20 patients received halothane and have previously been exposed to general anesthesia with halothane within the previous year.
Premedication was done with fentanyM (l ug/ Kg) given 15 minutes before induction and atropine sulphate (0.01)mg/ Kg immediately before induction of anesthesia.
Induction was done with a sleeping does of (4-7 mg/ Kg.)
of 2.5% Sodium thiopentone then succinlcholine (Img/Kg) followed by oxygenation for one minute then oral endotracheal intubation was done under direct laryngoscopy.
