Abstract

This work was carried out during the two successive seasons of 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 at the Experimental Farm of Ornamental Horticulture Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University and Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Department, National Research Center, Dokki, Giza, Egypt. The seeds of Monarda citriodora L. were obtained from Dr. Helmut Junge, ABiTEP GmbH, Berlin, Germany, providing the plant material, via Jelitto GmbH, Germany.
The importance of the Monarda citriodora L. plants as one of the medicinal and aromatic plant as well as the few studies on it under Egyptian conditions, Two experiments were studied, the first experiment aimed to investigate the effect of foliar application extracts of moringa leaves and algae as a stimulate growth under different levels of chemical fertilization (NPK) on the growth parameters, production and constituents of essential oil as well as chemical constituents. The second experiment aimed to study the post-harvest treatments (harvest stages, drying methods and storage conditions) on production and constituents of essential oil.
