ELECTRICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS ON DISTRIBUTION OIL TRANSFORMERS APPLIED IN SCEDC

Abstract

The electric transformer is considering the most important equipment in the power grid system and the most expensive. In this thesis routine tests on about 500 oil distribution transformers and its oils are applied, an important environmental test is applied to detect poly chlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) which consider one of the persistent organic pollutants (POPs).the main idea of the study was using the current values in the different tests to predict the insulation condition of the transformer.
