STUDY OF NITRIC OXIDE IN SEMINAI PLASMA OF INFERTILE MALES WITH ASTHENOZOOSPEI&MIA

Abstract

Reactive oxygen species are a part of greater group of molecules often called free radicals, which are defined as any species that has one or more unpaired electrons. They react very quickly with most organic compounds to stabilize their electronic structures. In these reactions, free radicals behave either as oxidants or reducers. The free radicals may be oxygen centered and called reactive oxygen species (ROS) or nitrogen center and called reactive nitrogen species (RNS). A chain reaction is then started bringing about the modification of some biological structures, particularly those rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, although all cellular components are potential targets for reactive oxygen species
There is considerable evidence to indicate that lipid composition of sperm membrane which possess high concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids is a major determinant of sperm motility and overall viability of spermatozoa (35
Oxygen derived free radical (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) especially NO are known to impair spermatozoal motility and membrane integrity through membrane lipid peroxidation 1s7
The aim of this work was to study level of nittes (NO) the stable end product of the unstable NO, and the thiobarbitunic acid (TBARS) as a marker for lipid peroxidation in seminal plasma of mfertile asthenozoospermic patients compared to fertile males to assess the relation between. Their level in seminal plasma and sperm motility
Forty individuals were selected from males attending the out patents Climc of of Dermatology and Venereology Department, Tanta University Hospital.
