Abstract


ype 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is the most frequent type of diabetes in childhood and adolescence.
It affects physical functioning and mental health, and also impact school and home functioning.
The aim of the study to do Psychological assessment of children and adolescent with type 1 diabetes using the PedsQL testing which consists of 23 items and covers Physical, emotional, social, and school functioning, DSM-5 criteria for ADHD, Conners rating scale and Pediatric Check List. The ultimate objective of this study is to stimulate efforts of improving the quality of life of diabetic patients and their families.
This case-control study included seventy diabetic children Cases (35 males and 35 females) recruited from the Pediatric Diabetes Clinic, Children’s hospital, Ain Shams University. Cases were compared to seventy age, sex, social and educational level matched normal healthy children.
The study showed that body mass index of cases is more than control and difference was statistically highly significant, height of cases is less than control and difference was statistically highly significant, weight of cases is less than control and difference was statistically significant
