BcI-2 Protein Level and Telomerase Enzyme Activity in Patients with Acute Leukemias

Dekra Aly Abd El- Wahed El- Aghbary;

Abstract

Acute leukemias are clonal disorders that originate from mutation of a single progenitor cell leading to invasion of the bone marrow with leukemic blasts and suppression of normal haematopoiesis.
Mutations of proto-oncogenes or tumour suppressor genes confer a growth advantage to the tumour cells on the expense of the normal haematopoietic cells with resultant anemia and thrombocytopenia.
