Abstract


The present research work addresses a proposed method for image shape representation. The composed contours of the image are approximated by a set of cubic B-spline curve segments. This approach is composed of a sequence of three processes such as: Edge-based segmentation, shape segmentation and shape representation. This approach is very efficient to save both the processing time and the required storage. It is also featured by a set of properties such as smoothness, locally controlled and easily to reconstruct and
. 4 display the image. The user can easily adjust the degree of accuracy of representation according to the order of the adopting spline function and the degree of segmentation.
