Abstract


Brucellosis is one of the world's major zoonotic diseases and is responsible for enormous economic losses as well as considerable human

morbidity in endemic areas. Although it is a notifiable disease in most countries in the region, it often remains unidentified and underreported. Most of human cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage and cause prolonged and distressing illness in people who are not able to afford it. Aims of the study
Studying the trends of brucellosis in Alexandria since 1995, investigating possible risk factors for contracting brucellosis in the city, studying the surveillance activities for brucellosis cases in Alexandria and suggesting effective measures for brucellosis prevention and control in Alexandria.

A-Preparatory phase


Official approval of MOHP was obtained to carry out the study, through communication with directorate of health affairs in Alexandria and with the general directors of Alexandria fever hospital and Gamal Abd-Elnaser insurance hospital to allow interviewing cases in the hospital.
