BACTERIOLOGICAL AND SEROLOGICAL STUDIES ON MASTITIS IN COWS IN CLOSED FARMS
Hany Michael Aziz Eshak;
Abstract
Milk samples from 2010 cows were investigated by electrical conductivity for
subclinical mastitis. The incidence of subclinical mastitis were 7.9%, 5.3%, 6% and 4.8% in
Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn respectively. Also incidence of clinical mastitis were
studied. Out of 422 milk samples E. coli was isolated in an incidence of 37.7%, S. aureus
(17.3%), S. agalactiae (12.1%) and other from Subclinical and Clinical mastitis. Serotyping of
£ coli were 044 ; K74 (20.8%), 055 : K59 (22.6%), 0111 : K58 (16.4%), 0119 : K69 (2.5%),
0124 : K72 (11.3%) and 0125: K75 (10%). Among the potential virulence factors produce by
£ coli isolates(159),
