Cardiac diseases result from abnormal genes that encode primarily for three main families of proteins: the sarcomcric proteins, which generate the mechanical contraction of the myocyte, manifested as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; the cytoskeletal proteins, which coordinate
and transmit this force to the neighboring cells, manifested as dilated cardiomyopathy, and the ion channels, which generate and coordinate electrical activity in Ihe heart, responsible for familial arrhythmias. In addition, diseases may overlap,
