Abstract
The young branches are green in color showing longitudinal striations with sometimes-pinkish ;in£e, pubescent, with dark spots, ilcxiblc but break with fibrous fracture and solid internal. The old
stem is dark brown in color, hard, solid, cylindrical, longitudinally striated, and has a rough surface. Branching is monopodiai until the flowering season when each branch terminates into an inflorescence. The stem is odorless and possesses a slightly bitter astringent taste.
