The use of injectable Polymeric Hydrogels associated with injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin (i-PRF) for Interdental Papillary Augmentation (A Randomized Clinical Study)
Seif Ahmed Mohamed Eissa Araffa;
Abstract
Black triangles are one of the main esthetic concerns in modern aesthetic dentistry. The presence or absence of the interdental papillae represent a great concern and a major challenge for periodontists and prosthodontists to maintain or restore the contours of the papillae. The loss of the interdental papillae leads to many problems, aesthetic (black triangles between teeth in esthetic zone), functional (food trapping inter-proximally between teeth), phonetic problems (spaces allows passage of air and saliva from between teeth). Its presence or absence is influenced and caused by many factors such as; periodontal condition, distance from crestal bone to inter- proximal contact point, position and shape of contact point/area, age, tooth & root shape and position, traumatic oral hygiene, gingival biotype and respect or violation of biological width from present restorations or prosthetics.
The treatment can be multidisciplinary but before it is undertaken the etiology of the black triangles needs to be explored because it may have a bearing on the treatment that is being done. Over the past decades, there has been various attempts to restore and augment inter dental papillae. Generally, these techniques are divided into surgical and non-surgical techniques. Surgical techniques mainly involved in the management of soft and hard tissues, flab designs and grafting procedures. Non-surgical techniques involved restorative, prosthetic, orthodontic approaches and recently the use of different injectable materials either biodegradable or non-resorbable.
The aim of this clinical study was to evaluate and compare between the effect of injection of polymeric hydrogels alone, injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin
