Abstract
Toxoplasmosis is caused h\ infection with Toxoptasma gondit, an
obligate intracellular parasite, widespread in animals and man. During
pregnancy, although Toxoplaima infection often produces clinically
vague or silent asymptomatic infection, yet it retain the potential at"
infection to the fetus m utero. the most severe disease occurs m The
developing fetus. Primary Toxvptostna infection to the mother carries iho
risk of abortion, stillbirth, preterm labour and delivery of newborn with
congenital anomalies, due to congenital infection of the fetus.
