GASTRODUODENAL CHANGES IN DIABETICS WITH NON ULCER DYSPEPSIA

Abstract
This work aims to study the gastroduodenal mucosal changes in diabetic patients with non-ulcer dyspepsia (NUD) and to clarify the role of both impaired gastric motility and H. pylori in the pathogenesis of these changes.
The present study included 20 healthy volunteers and 70 patients who were divided into the following groups:
Group I:
This included 20 healthy non diabetic volunteers without
GIT symptoms to assess the normal gastric emptying rate.
Group II:
This included 10 non diabetic patients with non ulcer dyspepsia and normal gastric emptying.
Group II:
This included 60 diabetic patients of more than 10 years duration (mixed type 1,2) with non ulcer dyspepsia, this group was further subdivided into 2 subgroups according to gastric emptying rate.
Subgroup III (A):
Included 30 patients with normal gastric emptying.
Subgroup II B.:
Included 30 patients with delayed gastric emptying.
