ANALYTICAL STUDY OF SOME IMPORTANT HORMONES CONTAINING PHARMACEUTICALS FORMULATIONS

Abstract

The thesis consists of five parts: • Part One: General Introduction. In this part, a brief idea about hormones, their uses, derivatives and their biological functions have been presented. • Part Two: Introduction and Literature Review. This part includes an introduction about the uses, chemical structures and properties of gestodene, cyproterone acetate, clobetasol propionate, halobetasol propionate and quinagolide hydrochloride. The reported methods used for their analysis in pure and in pharmaceutical preparations were also mentioned. • Part Three: Determination of Gestodene and Cyproterone Acetate. This part includes the proposed methods applied for the determination of these drugs in raw materials and in dosage forms. It is subdivided into four sections: • Section A: Colorimetric determination of gestodene, and cyproterone acetate using isonicotinic acid hydrazide (INH) .The colored products were measured at 378 and 400 nm in concentration ranges 4 -24 and 4 -36 g.ml' with mean percentage recoveries 99.54± 1.20 and 99.95 ± 1.09, respectively. • Section B: Colorimetric determination of gestodene and cyproterone acetate using tetrazolium blue. The colored products were measured at 515 and 520 nm in concentration ranges 4 - 24 and 8-40 g.ml' with mean percentage recoveries of 99.63 41.16 and 99.22 ± 1.53, respectively.
