Women’s Perception Concerning Their Habitual Abortion

Abstract
Aim: to assess women’s perception concerning their habitual abortion. Setting: The study was conducted at Ain Shams Habitual Abortion Outpatient Clinic. Design: A descriptive study design. Sampling: Sample size: 234 women were included. Sample type: A purposive sample. Tools: 1) Structured interviewing questionnaire sheet. 2) Women’s perception tool. 3) Likert scale. Results: The present study findings revealed that 59% and 56% among studied sample correctly agreed that uterine structural abnormalities and hormonal imbalance & fetal congenital anomalies respectively were possible causes of habitual abortion. 74% agreed that longstanding stress is the single common risk factor. 83%, 68%, 52% and 69% sequentially had incorrect knowledge regarding complications, investigations, management method as well as habitual abortion and future pregnancy. 62% among studied sample had positive attitude toward their habitual abortion. Statistical significant relations were observed between studied sample attitude and their age, area of residence, No*. of living births. Conclusion: It was found from the present study findings that half the studied sample had truly perceived some possible causes of habitual abortion.However; the majority misperceived most risk factors. More than half among studied sample had total incorrect knowledge. Two third among studied sample had positive attitude. Age, area of residence, and living births had significant impacts on positive attitude. Recommendations: Designing and implementing post abortion counseling sessions using simple guided brochures and posters at Ain shams habitual abortion outpatient clinic.
