STUDY OF THE RELATION BETWEEN CIRCULATING LIPIDS AND GLYCAEMIC CONTROL IN DIABETIC CHILDREN

MOHAMMED AHMED ABD-ELMOETY;

Abstract

Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus patients have a high risk of. premature development of atherosclerosis and CAD. One of the atherogenic factors in IDDM is an elevated serum levels of triglycerides and LDL-C, and because ApoB is the major protein moiety of LDL and VLDL; this work aimed to determine apolipoprotein B in patients with type I diabetes mellitus before and after correction of the hyperglycernic state.
40 patient with type 1 diabetes were subjected to estimation of their plasma level of blood glucose, glycosylated HbAl c, Triglycerides, Cholesteserol, LDL. HDL and ApoB.
In addition 10 normal healthy children were carefuly selected as a control groups.
The result were:
1- Total cholesterol, Triglyceride LDL, APOB were higher with different degree of significancy (P range from P < 0.05 to P < 0.00 l) in uncontrolled IDDM as compared to normal or controlled patients.
On the other hand HDL was lower in those patient than the nonnal.
In comparison of controlled child to normal there were no significant difference in lipid parameters thus ApOB and other parameter is clearly related to glycaemic control.
In Conclusion :
Diabetic control may have antiatherogenic effects through normalization of APOB level.
