Abstract


The activity concentrations of all studied samples for238U, 234U, 235U and 226Ra are higher than the permissible level also, the activity concentrations of all studied samples for 232Th are higher than the permissible level except samples (R9) and the activity concentrations of all studied samples for 40K are higher than the permissible level except samples (R1, R3, R4 and R9) for the sedimentary rock samples at three locations: 4 samples from Dabbet Abu Thor location, 3 samples from Wadi Um Hamd location and 3 samples from Gabal Farsh El Azrak location in southwestern Sinai, Egypt.
The results shown that, the concentrations of determined radionuclides are changed for each type of sedimentary rocks. The activity concentration by Bq/ kg for 238U, 234U, 235U, 226Ra, 232Th and 40K varied between [1752 ± 58 and 9939 ± 128] (Bq/kg), [1541 ± 68 and 8590
± 142] (Bq/kg), [80 ± 02 and 458 ± 04] (Bq/kg), [1202 ±
12 and 9764 ± 19] (Bq/kg), [19 ± 01 and 109 ± 02]
(Bq/kg) and [136 ± 11 and 1482 ±18] (Bq/kg) respectively, most of this values are higher than the permissible level in all localities under investigation especially Gabal Farsh El Azrak recorded significantly higher concentration in comparison with other two localities. Also all radiological parameters are higher in all localities than the permissible level which point to very hazards for human health.
