USING MULTI-CLOUD TECHNIQUES TO ENHANCE DATA SECURITY AND RELIABILITY IN FOG NETWORKS

Reda Maher Ahmed Mahanny;

Abstract

Digital storage is rapidly being embraced with network and computing popularity. However, digital data pose many threats, such as security attacks and hardware failures. Data backup is important for avoiding these threats. Cloud computing technology has enabled us to use remote storage to the full. However, there is no enforceable policy that guarantees user data protection and privacy. Many studies adopted the concept of Multi-Cloud to increase the level of data protection. This comes at the cost of system complexity. Moreover, the previously proposed paradigms do not consider the increasing computing facilities on the edge side.
In this thesis, we propose “DropStore”, a new technique that employs Fog Computing and state-of-the-art Multi-Cloud technologies for data storage. The new technique improves the user experience while ensuring a high level of data security, reliability, and confidentiality. The implementation details and performance measures demonstrate the advantages of our system over the existing systems.
