Abstract

PVA/annealed ZnO at different temperatures and PVA/Zn 1-x Mg x O (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1) nanocomposites were prepared by thermolysis and casting methods. The structural and microstructure properties were studied in details by X-ray diffraction. Applying Rietveld analysis, the effect of annealing temperature and Mg-doping on crystallite size, lattice microstrain and the internal tetrahedral distortion of ZnO has been conducted. The optical properties of different nanocomposites such as energy gap, average excitation energy, dispersion energy, real and imaginary dielectric constant and optical conductivity were investigated by ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The photoluminescence spectroscopy of the nanocomposites exhibited four and six sub-emissions in ultra-violet and visible regions for PVA/annealed ZnO and PVA/Zn 1-x Mg x O, respectively.
