Abstract


The aim of the current research is to measure the effectiveness of a program based on experiential learning in virtual professional communities of practice in developing information generation skills in the field of alternative assessment in the light of the criteria for employing it with blind students among geography teachers in Al-Nour schools in the basic education stage, and the research group consisted of (15) geography teachers. In Al Noor Schools for the Blind in the Basic Education Stage, the experimental design was used that depends on one group with a pre and post measurement, a list of information generation skills needed for geography teachers in Al Noor Schools for the Blind was prepared, and a list of criteria for employing alternative assessment methods with the blind in the field of geography, then the scientific content was built of the alternative assessment methods suitable for the blind and the use of experiential learning in the virtual professional communities of practice to train the research group, then the measurement tools of the information generation test and the product evaluation card were built to verify the effectiveness of the program, where the information generation test was applied to the research group beforehand and then the research experiment was conducted Then, the information generation test and the product evaluation card were applied afterwards The results of the information generation test indicate that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post measurements in favor of the post measurement at the level of 0.001, and the results also confirmed that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group and the criterion (80%) in the product evaluation card as a whole. At each method, it is at a level of 0.001, which confirms the effectiveness of the program in developing the skills of generating information in the field of alternative assessment among geography teachers in Al-Nour schools for the blind in the basic education stage. To improve teaching competencies when dealing with the blind to take advantage of experimental experiences and mechanisms for solving educational problems and exchanging them with those with common interest when teaching geography to this category in light of the needs of the blind and the requirements of their education and rehabilitation.
