Abstract: Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of pre – admission guidelines on improving awareness and satisfaction of patients having laparoscopic cholecystectomy . Subjects and Method : A quasi-experimental design was utilized for the conduction of this study in the Outpatients` Clinics and Surgical Departments at El- Demerdash and Ain Shams Specialized Hospitals which are affiliated to Ain Shams University . A purposive sample of (70) adult patients involved both genders underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery and taken from the above mentioned settings . Tools of data collection were : 1) Patients, interviewing questionnaire (pre / post guidelines) to assess the studied patients` knowledge as regards laparoscopic cholecystectom surgery . 2). An observation checklist (pre / post guidelines) to evaluate studied patients' practices in relation to care activities of laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery . . 3) Numerical pain scale ( pre / post guidelines) to assess pain severity level . 4) Patients` satisfaction assessment sheet ( post guidelines ) to assess the satisfaction level . 5) Patients` condition assessment sheet Results: More than half of the studied patients were female and married . Moreover , there were unsatisfactory level of patients` knowledge , practices and health condition , added to elevated pain level pre guidelines .. Conclusion : On light of the current study results , it can be concluded that , pre – admission guidelines had a positive effect on improving awareness (knowledge and practices) and satisfaction among patients having laparoscopic cholecystectomy . Recommendations: Further studies should be carried out on a large number of patients with laparoscopic cholecystectomy for evidence of the results and generalization .
