Les titres de presse : entre jeux linguistiques et enjeux politiques

Racha EL KHAMISSY;

Abstract

This article approaches the titles of the newspapers which
offer an object of search of great interest. It is an approach which
crosses linguistics and policy. It is about a linguistic reading of some
titles of political nature in the daily French press, more precisely in Le
Monde, Le Figaro and Libération. Indeed, the article questions the
titles of these three newspapers in connection with two political actors
in the French presidential election of 2007 - Nicolas Sarkozy (the
candidate of UMP) and Ségolène Royal (the candidate of the PS),
while describing the linguistic mechanisms and the political purposes
of some titles, and while trying to answer the following questions:
does the titrated language of the newspapers reflect a particular
ideology? Does it contribute to create the public opinion?
