Our study was conducted on 60 SLE patients (45 of them with lupus nephritis and 15 patients without nephritis) and 40 normal healthy subjects serving as a control group. The present study reveals that NLR was a statistically significant higher in SLE patients than healthy controls, and also was statistically significant higher in lupus nephritis patients. NLR was found also to be positively correlated with proteinurea and ESR. We also found highly significant positive correlation between each of NLR and PLR and SLEDAI score. thus ,NLR and PLR appear to be potentially useful inflammatory parameters of systemic inflammation in patients with SLE, and could serve as two new inflammatory markers for indicating disease activity in SLE patients. In our results NLR was significantly higher in SLE patients with nephritis and SLE patients with activity because of the neutrophilia and lymphopenia that occur in SLE activity and LN pathogensis. By evaluation of the correlation of both of NLR and PLR ratios with SLICC score as a damage index, we found significant positive correlation between both of them and SLICC score .
