Professor Mounir Mohamed Fawzy Elhao was born on 20th January 1948 in Cairo, Egypt. He currently holds the position of Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine in Cairo. He is also the former director of the Gynaeoncology unit at the same institution.

Professor Elhao's journey in medicine began at Ain Shams University, where he obtained his M.B., B.CH degree. He continued his specialiSation, earning his Master's degree in OB&GYN in 1978 and his MD in OB&GYN in 1983.

El-Hao's career has been marked by a dedication to research and professional development. In 1979, he co-founded the Early Cancer Detection unit at Ain Shams Medical School alongside Prof. M. B. Sammour. His MD Dissertation focused on the role of progesterone therapy in pre-eclampsia. This research was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Adolf Schindler from the University of Tubingen and Prof. M.B. Sammour from Ain Shams University.

El-Hao sought international experience to enhance his skills He did his clinical research in Radio Immuno-Assay in Tubingen Germany as a collaboration in a scientific channel between ain shams university and west germany.in preparation for his MD dissertation.in the year 1980 and 1981
. From 1984 to 1985, he served as an acting registrar at the Women's Hospital and Birmingham Maternity Hospital, affiliated with the University of Birmingham in the UK. He further pursued specialized training in hysteroscopy, attending courses with Dr. Jacque Hamou at Hospital Tenon in Paris, France in 1986, and at Harlem Hospital in Holland in 1987. He also gained valuable clinical experience during his attachment to the Cancer Institute in 1987-1988.
Dr Elhao continued his learning curve in endoscopic surgery in the USA with Dr CAMRAN NEZHAT, then went to GERMANY to learn from PROF DR KURT SEMM in endoscopic surgery Then to PARIS FRANCE WITH PROF MAURICE BRUHAT in advanced endoscopic surgery diploma in 9/5/1994

Elhao's commitment to advanced surgical techniques is evident in his pursuit of training in laparoscopic surgery. He participated in courses led by prominent figures in the field, including Prof. Kurt Semm from Germany, Prof. Kamran Nezhat from Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and Prof. Maurice Bruhat from Hopital Barry St. Edmonds in France.

Beyond his clinical and surgical expertise, Elhao has actively contributed to the medical community through his involvement in numerous societies. He is a member of:
● The Urogynaecology unit at A.S.M.H.
● The Hysteroscopy team and serves as the main surgical operator.
● The Gynaecological Oncology team at A.S.M.H.
● The Egyptian Society of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
● The Egyptian Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.
● The International Society of Hysteroscopy.

He has also held leadership positions, including:
● President of the Egyptian - German Society of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
● Secretary of the Egyptian Society of Medical Ethics.
● President of the Egyptian Society of Gynaecological Oncology.

Elhao's dedication to education is reflected in his supervision of 46 Master's degrees and 24 Doctorate degrees. He has also been instrumental in organising a yearly workshop on Early Cancer Detection, encompassing colposcopy, hysteroscopy, and laparoscopic surgery, since 1990. He has also organised and lectured in specialised courses on 3D ultrasonography and conducted workshops on hysteroscopy in various locations, including Egyptian hospitals and Salmania Hospital in Bahrain.

Elhao's contributions extend to the academic realm, with seventy-two publications in national and international journals. His research interests primarily lie in hysteroscopy, diagnostic and surgical laparoscopy, and gynaeoncology.
