Biography
Dr. Ayman Hassan Ismail received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees both in electrical engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1998 and 2002, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 2007, on the topic of high-speed analog-to-digital converters. Post PhD, he served for 2 years as an analog IC design engineer with the IP division of Gennum Corporation (Snowbush IP) (acquired by Semtech), Toronto, ON, Canada, working on high-speed ADCs and circuits for SERDES (PCIe and USB). In 2009, Dr. Ismail joined Si-ware Systems, Cairo Egypt, for 10 years, where his work spanned AMS circuit design (ADCs, PLLs), system design, and leading and managing complex ASICs developments.
Most notably, Dr. Ismail co-led the development of high-performance Sigma-Delta based interface ASICs for inertial-sensors and is one of the key contributors to Si-ware systems inertial sensors ASICs technology that went all the way to mass production. Furthermore, he led the design of a multi-protocol Transceiver ASIC for tolling systems (for ONSemi). During these developments, Dr. Ismail proposed new fundamental ideas (some were patented) that enabled these products.
Later, Dr. Ismail has been with Goodix, Cairo, Egypt, as a senior technical director, managing the AMS/RF and the layout teams, and was involved in the development of NFCC products. Since 2024, Dr. Ayman Ismail serves as the General Manager of Goodix Cairo R&D center.
Dr. Ismail is a full professor at the ECE Dept., Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, and has taught electronics courses to senior undergraduates and graduate students for over 15 years. He has more than 30 Journal and conference publications, and 5 granted US patents. He is also the recipient of the overall winning design award and the analog/mixed-signal design award from Mentor Graphics, in 2002, for his MSc work.
